TodoPaper 2.0 Hierarchal Search Flags
Many of you have asked for advanced searching (-a excludes the display of ancestors/parents, +d includes the display of descendents/children) and I can finally say that it's arriving to a "TodoPaper 2.0 near you". Even though TodoPaper 2.0 is still wrapping up final beta testing, it is taking shape to be a pretty awesome improvement over version 1. (I know it has been a long road, but I am sticking to my gut and delivering a quality product!)
Let me know what you think and if you have any other suggestions for improving TodoPaper!

I'm Richard, a mac user following TodoPaper's development.
Here are two things that instantly came to my mind when you asked for other suggestions.
1) I'm not sure whether TodoPaper already supports folding - but it would great if it did! It's THE one thing Taskpaper on the Mac is still missing and which would raise its usability to a whole new level for an appreciable number of custormers. Personally, I like to hide everything unnecessary to focus on currently important content - especially when planning single projects. There have been postings on this (and Taskpaper's "Focus Project" as an alternative) on the Taskpaper mailing list - you might want to take a look there to dive deeper into this.
2) The reason why I don't know much about TodoPaper's current features leads to my second point. I'd appreciate if the method for trial use would be changed to something like "x hours of running time" (instead of "x days counting from first run").
A few months back, I installed TodoPaper on my windows machine which I use for all kinds of after-work fun. After the initial run I planned to take a closer look a few weekends later. I was then disappointed to see that the trial period had already expired. Just like me, many potential customers already use some kind of todo management. The migration to another system / application is often regarded a complex process which may not require many working hours in front of the new app but a lot of thinking and planning between single steps. Maybe TodoPaper's sales would benefit from more time for consideration for potential customers -- or, more precisely, time which can be used more efficiently.
Cheers!
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Right now, TodoPaper version 1 does indeed have "folding". But, I've actually removed it from version 2 because I just haven't "gotten it right" yet. The implementation in version 1 was weird, buggy, and didn't provide a lot of usability over using the upcoming advanced search functionality (partially demonstrated here in this video). I may have to take a second look at folding, though, if there is enough support around it.
I agree with you on your second point. In version 2, I've changed the model to track "running time" instead of days since install. From my perspective (just like you've mentioned) this should be win/win: users get a "longer" evaluation period and are free to pause their evaluation if they choose (by not using the software) AND hopefully more users then continue to use the software after the trial because they've had enough time to invest in it for their workflow. This is a side effect of using quality software that solves a problem. That's where I'm aiming for TodoPaper 2.
Just bought the software after reading about it from a post in Mark Forster's Autofocus forum.
Here's the link in case you want to introduce yourself there. Mark is pretty open about software recommendations from developers. I'm using TDP to implement his task management system. http://www.markforster.net/forum/
Thanks.
